Business Incubation Program (BIP)

BIC offers 12-months tailor-made Business Incubation Program (BIP) for early-stage startups looking for development of their products and services, by scaling up every aspect of their respective business models.

BIC offers Business Acceleration Program (BAP), a 12 months’ tailormade program for entrepreneurs, freelancers and developers to kick-off their Entrepreneurial journey.
BAP is intensive program that provide education, resources, and mentorship if you’re an early- or mid-stage founder. Often cohort-based, accelerators are more structured than incubators and outline specific tracks to turn your startup into a scalable business. BIC provide the environments and resources to help your ideas succeed, accelerators compress years’ worth of learning and growth into the span of a few months.

Business Accelerator Program (BAP)

Faculty Led Startup Program

This program aims to encourage and support FMs of BU to engage in entrepreneurial activities, establish startups, and promote innovation and commercialization of their research.
The Entrepreneurial Faculty at BU, for the purpose of this program, is defined as:

  • Founding member of a start-up
  • Member of the governing board of start-up
  • Holding equity in a startup

 

Eligibility Criteria for a Start-Up

  • Faculty Member must be a “Full-Time FM” at any of the campuses of BU with more than 1 year of experience at BU OR Research Track Faculty (RTF) hired by BU without any minimum experience.
  • The start-up must be based on some research work as part of an internal or externally funded project, student final year project, or student research thesis or any other research/innovation work carried out at BU.

This program aims to encourage and support currently enrolled students of BU to engage in entrepreneurial activities. The tailor-made program for 12 months’ duration covers the grant of support and resources to BU students participating as founders or co-founders of “BU-Student Led Startups” with an aim to encourage students for initiating/actively participating in setting up startups.

Virtual Incubation Program

The Virtual Incubation Program aims to provide early-stage startups and entrepreneurs with access to the resources, mentorship, and networks of the Business Incubation Center (BIC) without the requirement of physical presence. This program seeks to expand the BIC’s reach and support a diverse
group of innovators, including those located outside the immediate geographical area, leveraging technology to foster entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Freelancer Hub is being established to provide a dynamic, supportive environment for freelancers within the university community and the local area. This hub will serve as a resource center and collaborative space, empowering freelancers to develop their skills, connect with clients, and grow their independent businesses. It aligns with BIC’s mission to foster
entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development by supporting freelance professionals across a variety of industries. 

Eligibility Criteria
Freelancers applying for membership or access to the Freelancer Hub must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • BU Affiliated Freelancers: Priority will be given to current students, alumni, faculty, and staff engaged in freelance work. They must provide proof of their affiliation.
  • Freelance Work: Applicants must be involved in professional freelance activities that can be conducted remotely or require minimal on-site infrastructure.
  • Commitment: Freelancers must demonstrate a commitment to utilizing the resources provided and engaging in the hub’s programs and events.

Industry Liaison Office

Serving as an industrial and academic HUB, Business Incubation Center located in the heart of the city is ideal for Businesses and large organizations, SME’s and Organization. The Industrial Liaison Offices at BU Aims to provide a conducive environment for businesses with all the necessary office facilities and services under one roof.

 

Training Programs

Entrepreneurship Training: Regular workshops and seminars
covering key topics such as ideation, business model development, marketing, and scaling strategies.
Technical Skills: Industry-specific technical training depending on the startup’s focus (e.g., IT, health, manufacturing, etc.), facilitated by university faculty or external experts.

Legal and Regulatory Training: Workshops on intellectual property(IP), legal frameworks, compliance, and contract management to help startups navigate legal challenges.

Financial Management: Training on budgeting, financial planning, fundraising, and investment strategies, including access to university or external funding programs. 

Soft Skills: Sessions on leadership, communication, team building, negotiation, and time management.

Mentorship and Coaching: A formal mentorship program pairing startups with seasoned entrepreneurs, industry experts, or academic mentors for personalized guidance.

Pitching and Presentation Skills: Training and practice sessions
focused on helping startups develop and refine their pitch decks for investors and stakeholders.

Arrangement of Corporate/Industrial Trainings at BIC
BIC houses state of the art Training Halls and Video Link Conference (VLC) facility equipped with latest technological tools to provide conducive environment to impart trainings and provide video conference facility of international stature.
